A conversation about global art practice
I am currently a freshman at the Cornell University School of Engineering. I have a mixed ethnic background, but I care nothing for my personal heritage or culture. I have never studied art before, nor have I considered it pertinent to my own life. Still, I recognize its role as a means of expression and communication, and I hope to learn something of its past and current uses.
Hey, my name is Darragh Brady. I was born and raised in New York City. My entire family is from Ireland, and my Irish heritage is very important to me. I attended Regis High School before coming to Cornell, where I plan to major in Mechanical Engineering. When I don't have to do work--and many times when I do--I hang out with my friends or go to crew practice.
My name is Harry, I am in the Cornell School of Engineering, and my ancestors are of a very diverse background. My grandfather came to the U.S. from Slovenia, and my grandmother from Germany - so my family experiences many foods, and customs from the two countries regularly. I am very interested in history, specifically histories of class struggles, economics, and cultural altercations. I hope this course may help me expand upon my knowledge and interpretation skills within these classifications of history, as well as provoke new ideas relating to the African diaspora.
