A conversation about global art practice
I hope this post won't be horribly offensive to anyone, but I have to warn you that because of the nature of the subject, I may happen to write something that could be interpreted out of its intended meaning. You're still free to form your own interpretations though, as this is a blog.
Last week we read about Harry Johnston. He was the man who traveled to different islands and continents and tried to scientifically compare the different races he encountered. Today, such studies would be considered politically incorrect and, depending on the methods of study, perhaps unethical as well. I myself become uneasy whenever race becomes a topic, simply because of the way it has been misused in the past as a qualifier or categorizer.
